  • Harley Bird has been shortlisted for the Most Promising Newcomer prize at this year’s prestigious Moët British Independent Film Awards.

11 year old Harley is the youngest actor in the category and has been nominated for her role as Piper in the recently released “How I Live Now”. Ewan McGregor announced the nominees at the event in the British Film Institute this week.

The annual awards celebrate new talent in independently funded British films such as the Kevin Macdonald directed “How I Live Now”. Harley’s co-star Saoirse Ronan has also been nominated in the Best Actress category for her lead role as Daisy in the movie.

Past BIFA winners in the Most Promising Newcomer category include Downton Abbey’s Joanne Froggatt and Slumdog Millionaire’s Dev Patel.

Harley and Saoirse join big names on the nominations list such as Steve Coogan, Judi Dench, Scarlett Johansson, Jim Broadbent, Tom Hardy and James McAvoy. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony which is taking place at Old Billingsgate Market on 8th December 2013.
